Steps Conductive Education Centre
Steps supports both parent and child, enabling children to reach their full potential and empowering parents.
Steps gives children the skills needed to reach their independence and focuses on the child and not their disability. We are a vital support group for both parent and child with parents learning alongside their child by teaching a whole range of skills needed. Parents are a great support to one another and both parent and child really benefit from this type of session. Staff are able to give practical and emotional support to families, building firm relationships which support both the parent and child in their journey together.
We believe at Steps in early intervention and offer our service to families with children from three months of age. The children that attend Steps have a range of needs and disabilities including Cerebral Palsy, Down's Syndrome, Global Developmental Delay and genetic conditions. Children are assessed on their individual needs and we work with parents every step of the way to ensure that both parent and child's needs are supported.
The sessions that Steps offer, support children not only physically, but in every area of their development and we offer a programme that focuses on the child and not their disability. Through structured play, children learn a wide range of skills that encourage a 'have a go' attitude and every achievement, however small, along the way is loudly applauded!
Steps offers different groups during the week which are organised to suit the specific needs of a particular age and ability. In addition to working as part of a group, each child has an individual programme designed to address their personal needs. We also offer Gym Club one afternoon a week for children who are in mainstream education.
